NaNoWriMo

It’s that time of year again, time for NaNoWriMo. National Novel Writing Month has been a tradition for many writers over the years, me included. It’s a chance to get that novel out of your head and on the paper.

The challenge of NaNo is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. No small feat. That comes out to be 1,667 words per day. Of course to make it more of a challenge Thanksgiving is thrown in there just to make it interesting.

This will be my forth year participating. I have “won” the last three years and intend on doing so again this year. When you “win” you get a very nice certificate to print and post on your wall. There are also other fun goodies.

The challenge is tons of fun. I hope you’ll join me this year in participating. Register at www.nanowrimo.org. registration is easy. Fill out your author profile and you’re done. You can also add authors to your buddy list so you don’t feel so alone. Add me to your buddy list, Laura K Marshall, for some good hearted encouragement.

During the month I’ll post encouragements and mile stone reminders. Remember no one will knee cap you if you don’t finish. The worst that could happen is you have the beginning of your novel.

Hope to see you all on November 1st.

  1. I wish I worked like that. I’d love to participate but I can’t write on a schedule like that. Well, good luck to the others who are so lucky!

  2. Well, I’m hoping to get “into it” on the 1st…Have a Harliquin in mind…with a beginning and an ending but not much about the middle . . .gotta get thru the perfectionism-procrastination block and just let it happen…
