We all have the book reading fantasy. The one where hundreds of your fans are clutching your book, waiting in line for hours just to hear you read a passage and get a few seconds of face time while you sign their book. Nice fantasy.
Unfortunately the reality is some readings may draw 50 people but the next may only bring three. A way to offer your readers more than a sales pitch is to incorporate a workshop or an instructional aspect on your topic or other interactive activity that gives more value to the event.
Another tip is when booking an event to select a date toward the end of the month. This way your event date will be displayed in-store and in the newsletter all month giving potential attendee’s the opportunity to discover your event.
Be creative when planning your event. No one knows your book better than you. Except for your super fan.
