The last two weeks I’ve given you prompts / story starters to get your creative juices a jumpstart. And I’m assuming you’ve been writing either from the prompts or your own ideas. Now it’s time to edit what you’ve been writing.
Take a draft of a story, essay or scene that you think is fairly close to being complete. Copy it into a new file or print out (whichever way you prefer to work). Do a word count, and then cut one quarter of the words. Yes, you read this correctly. Leave only three-quarters of your work. This is designed to help you tighten your writing. You’re forced to make choices, lose adjectives and adverbs, thus moving you closer to what you really want to say.
Coming later this week.
Mega-Volt Story Starter will be available on Amazon in the next few days. Here is a taste of what you can expect. Jumpstart your next writing adventure with one of over seven hundred story starters in this Mega-volt collection. You’ll find dialog and phrases you can use to spark your creativity or use to weave your next story. The possibilities for your imagination are endless.
Have a great week.
