Hello from the crew at The Starving Writer. Our webmaster, site designer, proof reader, editor, publisher, graphic artist, site reviewer, marketing specialist, chief cook, bottle washer and cleaning crew welcome you to our site. That’s me (Laura AKA The Starving Writer) in a nut shell.

My writing adventure started when I sat down and I really thought about my writing and career path. I decided I wanted to be a professional writer. I would quit my day job and everything would be rosie. After that high wore off, I started thinking, how in the world am I going to do that? Which I’m not going to lie, stumped me.

I started my quest for information. I combed the internet, library, and book stores. I joined two writing associations, one national, one local. Then I thought, I’m doing all of this writing, but I don’t have anyone else to read my work for feedback. (We’ll I had my husband but he could only read so much) I knew there had to be other people out there in the same boat as me. I searched and found a critique group. I was getting my work read and edited, but how was I going to get it published? With my writing community and a plan I set out to get published.

Early one Saturday morning, at my day job, I thought, I should share all of this information I’ve been collecting with other writers in the same literary boat. The light bulb went off and I began jotting down ideas like crazy. And that is how The Starving Writer was born.

I left my day job in October 2012 to write full time and be at home with my boys. I have over 60 titles published plus articles in magazines and on-line on various topics.

Writing is awesome. It’s a wild and crazy ride, but it’s only the top of the Popsicle of the writing journey. I’m betting you’ll enjoy the journey as much as I am. No one likes to travel alone, so join me and we’ll have a blast on the way.

Sounds like a great adventure. Your story is very inspirational. I need to get to work to catch up to your 60 titles published.
