Day 19 Prompt – Wishes

Good Morning Everyone. It’s Friday already. Where did the week go? We have more days behind us than we do ahead at this point in the challenge.

Today’s Prompt – Wishes

My attempt at the prompt

Wishing for the Weekend

I wish it was the weekend

I’m ready for a break

All the people talking, yelling, hurrying all about

The world slows down on the weekend

There are still places to go but we take our time in getting there

Sitting in my cubical, wishing for the weekend

Longing for the open spaces of the park

The cool green grass between my toes

Laying on a blanket reading for hours

The sun peeking through the trees

Oh, how I wish it was the weekend

Well there you have it. My attempt at Wishes. Have fun with your poem today and I hope to see it posted here.

Have a great Friday and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Poem a Day Challenge Day 17 Prompt

Good Morning Everyone. I hope you’re having fun writing their poems. It takes a lot of commitment to write like this for thirty days. You’re doing great.

Today’s Prompt – Bugs

My Attempt

Love Bug

There’s a love bug on the living room wall

It wasn’t there yesterday

It was by the front door

The love bug likes to pop up around the house

Love bug appeared on Valentine’s Day

Shinny and red

It clung to the storm door glass

There it lived for several days

Then it appeared on the wall near the hall

You can’t help but smile when the love bug is around

One day not so long ago,

Love bug was on the white refrigerator door

You never know where you’ll see the love bug next

But when you do, he reminds you, you are loved

Well there you have it. My attempt at Bugs. Have fun with your poem today and I hope to see it posted here.

Have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Good Morning Everyone. Keep up the great work of celebrating poetry month by writing a poem a day. You are amazing.

Today’s prompt – Missing Something

My Attempt

Upstairs

There’s nothing going on upstairs

It’s quiet, too quiet

Usually there is constant noise

A dance party every night

Now there is nothing

The space up stairs is empty

Usually so full and bursting

Never dull, always vibrant

But all is quiet, no one’s home

I miss the voices in my head

I hope they come back soon

Well there you have it. My attempt at Missing something. Have fun with your poem today and I hope to see it posted here.

Today’s prompt – Hugs

The Cure

Do you have a problem?

I do not have a problem, so I will help you with yours, if allowed?

Let’s walk through the field full of wild flowers

Feel them tickle your toes and caress your palms

Is your problem gone?

Let’s pick some of the wild flowers

Smell the sweet fragrance of their blooms

How do you feel?

Would you like a hug?

Yes, of course I will give you a hug

I do not mind

Is that a smile I see?

Are you feeling better?

See a hug can cure anything

Poem a Day Challenge Day 14

Good Morning Everyone. I hope your weekend is going great. Today the family is going to the Tulip Festival. Should be tons of fun. Have a great day writing and enjoying the day.

Today’s prompt – Matching Socks Are Over Rated

Matching Socks Are Over Rated

Not one sock in the drawer matches

Where did all the pairs go?

Is there really a sock troll that roams the land taking socks?

Or is there a drier elf who sneaks up the vent to snatch the socks when there nice and warm

But what are they doing with all of those socks?

Do they make their cloths out of them?

Or maybe their bedding?

Maybe there is an underground black market for miss-matched socks

Those trolls and elves are very mysterious

At this point I don’t care

My feet are cold

And matching socks are so over rated

Well there you have it. My attempt at Matching socks are over rated. Have fun with your poem today and I hope to see it posted here.

Have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Poem a Day Challenge Day 13

You’ve made it to another weekend, Congratulations! Since it is Saturday I hope you didn’t have to get up to today’s prompt. Have a great day writing and enjoying the day.

Today’s prompt – Alarm Clock

My Attempt

Alarm Clock

It can’t be 5:30 already

I just went to bed

This clock has gotta be wrong

I don’t want to get out of bed

It’s cold out there

My bed is so nice and warm

Oh stop buzzing you stupid clock

Fine, I’ll get out of bed

The floor is to cold

Where are my fuzzy slippers?

It’s too cold out here

I want to get back into bed

Where is my robe?

The air is much to chilly for me

Look at my bed

It looks so lonely

It’s calling to me

I should get back in and keep it company

May be I would feel better if I took a nice hot shower

Of course there isn’t any hot water

May be I’ll try some coffee, that should do the trick

There’s no coffee!

What happened? Where did it all go?

I forgot to put the coffee in the machine last night

Why does this have to happen this morning?

Wait a minute, why isn’t anyone else getting up?

What’s today?

It’s Saturday!

I don’t get up early on Saturday.

What’s wrong with me?

I’m going back to bed!

Well there you have it. My attempt at Alarm Clock. Have fun with your poem today and I hope to see it posted here.

Have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Day 12 Poem a day Challenge

Hello Friday! I’m excited about today not because it’s Friday but because my children are testing for their next belt level in Tae Kwon Do. Aiden is in Tiny Tigers and is going for his orange stripped belt. Parker is in the intermediate class and is going for his blue belt. They both have been practicing very hard. So big day here. Okay, now my mommy moment is over, back to the poetry.

Today’s prompt – A large amount of something

My Attempt

Big ol Basket of Candy

I got a big ol basket of candy and everyone wants me to share

No one ever wants to share when I have a basket of broccoli

But I get a basket full of candy and everyone’s my friend

Everyone wants a bit of my big ol basket of candy

I don’t want to share

I want to keep this candy all for my self

May be I’ll hide it or say I lost it

But they all still know I have it

I wonder what Mama would say if she knew I didn’t want to share

I’m sure it would make her sad

She taught me better than that, she would say

But I want to make my candy last

It’s such a beautiful big ol basket of candy

Would you like a piece of candy?

Well there you have it. My attempt at a large amount of something. Have fun with your poem today and I hope to see it posted here.

Have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Mt Attempt

Breeze at the Beach

Feel the sea breeze on your cheeks

See the breeze in the palm trees

Watch it fill the sails of a boat, slowly drifting over the sea

Seagulls glide through it as if in a magical world of their own

The tide goes in and the tide goes out

Leaving behind the treasures of the sea.

The warm breeze plays with the shells and sand upon the beach

Feel the breeze upon your cheeks

Slipping into sleep and dream

Poem a Day Challenge Prompt Day 10

Good Morning Everyone! Is it Wednesday already? This week has just flown. Before you know it it’ll be Friday and I’m okay with that.

Today’s prompt – The four seasons

Mt Attempt

Seasons

Our cobbled main street covered in Daffodils for the festival in spring.

There sweet scent drifts on the breeze.

Bee’s floating in the air.

Buzzing from flower to flower,

As we walk down the street.

Contestants wait to gobble down pies,

Line long tables in summer at the chance to win the pie eating contest.

The hum of anticipation in the warm air builds,

As the contestants wait for the whistle to blow.

Bystanders wait eagerly to see how many pies can be consumed.

Brightly colored kites bob and weave through the sky urging on the fun below.

Fall skies at Jackson Point,

Safire blue sky with fluffy white clouds.

The emerald field that stretches on forever,

Tall grasses tickling your palms as you stroll.

Filling your lungs with the sweet aroma of the earth

Winter winds blow off the sea and buffet the light house.

Strong and mighty it never waivers from its post.

Blizzards white out,

Boats frozen in time upon the water.

A heavy winter coat,

Topped by a brilliant red hat and scarf to ward off the cold.

Spring, summer, fall, and winter

It’s all Nantucket after all.

Well there you have it. My attempt at the four seasons. Have fun with your poem today and I hope to see it posted here.

Have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow.
